THE PEELER

The Peeler is the first choice for fast removal of wood. If you only get one of our carbide-tipped tools, this is the one to have. The square carbide cutter is mounted on a ½” square shaft and quickly peels a ribbon of wood for fast shaping and rough hollowing.

With the handle parallel to the floor and the cutter at the center line, allow the tool to feed straight in. The Peeler is great for roughing bowl blanks, sizing tendons, squaring the shoulder cuts to fit box lids, cutting into end grain, etc. The cutting edge is a replaceable carbide insert that has four cutting edges.

For those who prefer to save a little money and turn their own handles, we have The Peeler without the handle. The 1/2" square steel shaft with blade is 12" long. The handle end has 4" turned to 1/2" diameter for easy insertion.

The carbide blade that is included on The Peeler is 14mm and has four sharp edges, so it can be rotated to maintain a good cutting surface. Blades are available for individual purchase as replacements.

Many of our customers have expressed an interest in a tool like our Peeler that is designed for inside the bowl work. We have finally located a source for high quality round carbide cutters that are really SHARP. We call the new tool the Shaver.

 

                                                          THE   SHAVER

We mount the 10mm round, concave top Shaver's carbide on a round shaft to provide for shear cutting as an inside finishing tool. The new round tools are offered in two sizes, A 1/2 " shaft, 24" overall length tool with a 16" handle and a smaller version at 18" overall, with a 12" handle. The smaller 3/8" shaft tool is sized for mini lathes and smaller work.

                            THE NEW REDESIGNED DIGGER

     The carbide tipped DIGGER is designed for rough hollowing. The round 11mm carbide cutter is mounted on a round shaft to provide for both scrape cutting and shear scraping depending on the angle the tool is presented to the wood. Excellent for those situations where uneven grain or knots in your project make using a gouge frustrating. Also great for projects where the depth is greater than the diameter and a gouge just will not work. The DIGGER will work in all types of both side grain and end grain hollowing with a minimal fear of a catch. The long lasting carbide tip can be rotated to a fresh cutting edge or replaced when necessary.

     The DIGGER compliments our SHAVER tool by providing hollowing with a minimal fear of a catch. The SHAVER does have a cleaner surface.

     NOTE: The carbide cutters of the DIGGER and SHAVER are not interchangeable and must be used with their respoective tools.
